Steve & Ava ● Hello, Stranger.

Ava grinned, “I try.” Her voice was light as she shrugged, their bodies continuing to move. If only every night could be tonight, Ava wouldn’t mind being stuck here for eternity. Not when she had someone like Steve she could so easily be around. “Ha-Ha, very funny,” She crinkled her nose playfully with sarcasm. Steve was kind which was more than Ava could say about anyone else in the house—including herself. Perhaps she could learn a thing or two from him. Like she had told him earlier, she agreed with his reasons for being nice but somehow she couldn’t let down her guard with everyone like she did him. It didn’t have anything to do with the alcohol either, she had been drinking plenty of times before.

“May have heard it once or twice,” She teased, looking up into the right corner of the ceiling as if she was seeking out a memory. Her eyes returned to him quickly. His skin was soft and she somehow found it hard to look straight into his eyes without smiling to herself so for a small while, she let her blue orbs fall to their feet that moved in slow circles, Steve doing all the work, of course. “How old are you?” Ava asked curiously, trying to hide her smile. This was weird. She hadn’t smiled so much since the house had claimed her life. Ava honestly wasn’t sure if she liked it or not, mindless sex had become her thing, she had dropped feelings a long time ago for the sake of never being weak. So why did she feel like this now? Having no answers, well, that scared her.

Steve chuckled softly and shrugged. “I’m hilarious, aren’t I?” He asked jokingly. “Should’ve been a comedian. Or a chef. Or a kazoo player.” The kazoo—probably the only isntrument he could play anyway… even if it wasn’t really an instrument. Steve grinned down at her, holding Ava just a bit closer. He just wanted to hold her. That’s all. He sighed softly and pretended to think very long and hard about her question. “Seventeen… forever…again… like the movie with the twins and their little brother.” He smiled. That was a good movie. Man he was old—in other senses.

“You have such a lovely smile.” He told her, noticing how she was smiling a lot. Steve sighed. “Okay, I think I’m losing this game if I’m repeating compliments.” He rolled his eyes at himself—or, he at least thought he’d already complimented her smile. Her lips, her hair, her eyes… her skin. Steve lifted his hand up to graze his fingers softly along her cheek. Soft. His brown eyes looked up into her blue ones and he cleared his throat. The feeling inside of him was literally rising so high. Steve was literally going crazy—he just wanted to know how it’d feel like is all. He leaned into Ava, pressing his lips against hers softly—honestly as if she’d break. He was afraid of that, but obviously she wouldn’t. Just like he’d imagined them—soft, and they were Ava’s.

“Oh yeah, you could be the next Russell Peters,” She chuckled with a raise of her brows. Ava was only half kidding. Steve was funny but in a cute way, unlike Russell Peters who was funny in the vile ways, which Ava quite enjoyed. Nonetheless, it wasn’t Russell Peters’ company Ava was enjoying, it was Steve’s and that’s just the way she liked it. The kazoo? What the fuck was that? Ava had never heard of anything by that name before. She cocked her head back at the word, “Kazoo?” She repeated questionably. It was clear in her voice she had no idea what that was—In fact if she had to guess, she’d probably say it was a fucking comic, kid’s board-game or some shit. She felt Steve pull her in a little, Ava folding her lips together and biting down to stop yet another smile that was trying to fight its way to her lips. “Me too!” She beamed more than she meant to. Everyone she had met was always a little older or a little younger than she was so it was nice to meet someone the same age and it was just a bonus that that someone was Steve.

“Thank you, you have a lovely height.” She complimented with honesty, even though it may have sounded silly. Ava liked it when guys were taller than her. Not by a whole lot but taller, still. She smirked at his words, feeling quite satisfied and confident that she’d win the game now. Before she could speak, Steve was grazing her skin softly and butterflies soared throughout Ava’s stomach. Butterflies? Really? How fucking cliche. She scowled to herself silently. Ava swallowed hard as his lips touched hers, pressing lightly. Her eyes fluttered shut as she let her lips brush back against his. The kiss only lasted seconds before Ava pulled back, “You’re also a good kisser.” She grinned, placing a hand on the back of his neck and pulling him back in as their lips met again.
