Ava smiled against Steve’s lips as he pulled back, her eyes meeting his again. “A goddess?” She repeated with a raise of her brows. Not a bad compliment, not bad at all as a matter of fact. “I’ll take it.” She grinned, and followed along to the couch where the two sat again. Ava adjusted her legs beneath her comfortably, curling up and leaning against the back. “You are.” She agreed, confirming her words. “You’re also a good dancer.” It was easy to talk to Steve and even play around with him the way they had been doing all night. The compliments, the dancing… It was all so… Nice. There was no other way to put it.
“I had fun, too.” Ava said and licked her lips as she watched him try to form the right words for whatever it was he wanted to say. She was curious now, there was no denying that. “And…?” She repeated before Steve spoke again causing Ava to chuckle. “You’ve got the rest of eternity, take your time.” It was a weak joke, if a joke is even what it was, but it was true. He had forever to tell her whatever it was he was going over in his head, literally. Ava let out a content sight as she tilted her head back, looking upward at the ceiling and admiring the swirls and patters on it. She never really noticed it before, then again, who would? It was just a ceiling.
“Yes, a goddess. First word that popped into my head.” Steve said as he kept thinking of how he would form the words. At least he had gotten that sentence out fine. He smirked softly and smiled, looking up at her. “All eternity? Ha-ha, funny. You’re hilarious. Seriously, though…” He sighed, looking at Ava, feeling as if this thinking was taking so much energy out of him. Maybe if he just said it all slowly and all… he looked up at the ceiling with her and nodded. “Swirls…” He whispered. Like his mind. Steve’s mind was definitely in a swirl—or a few different swirls all mushed together in a confusing swirl.
“Alright,” he said. He’d just tell her slowly and then it’d all come out fine. That’s at least what Steve was thinking. It sounded pretty logical to him anyways. He looked back down at Ava and cleared his throat again. “Tonight… has been really fun, Ava. Like I said… you’ve made me feel more than I’ve felt in over a decade… and, and that’s a long time.” He sighed and thought a bit more, smiling at just because it was Ava. “And… I think I may… or may not… have… uh… developed a sort of emotion towards your personality…?” It came out like a question, and as he processed what he said, he groaned again. “I give up, that was absolute shit.”
Ava turned her gaze back to Steve as he cleared his throat and began, what she guessed was what he wanted to say all along. She listened intently, nodding, “It is a long time.” She agreed before letting him continue. He seemed so unsure of himself, that was easy to pick up. May or may not. Ava furrowed her brows at the indecision in his sentence. “May or may not…” She repeated as he gave up. She had an idea of what he was trying to say, it really wasn’t fucking rocket science. “Alright,” She sighed, propping herself up and facing him completely. She was going to make this easy for the both of them. Steve was a sweet guy and Ava without a doubt did like him. She leaned in, placing a hand to his cheek and kissed him once, then again before pulling back. “How did that make you feel?” She asked, almost like she already knew the answer.
She smiled at him, almost as if to let him know that whatever he’d say, it was okay with her. “Take those feelings and then think about everything else we’ve done and there you have it.” She explained. It was easier said than done, sure, but she didn’t want any if’s, and’s, or but’s from Steve. Just a solid yes or no. “So, the real question here is whether you do or do not have feelings for me.” She pressed her lips together and blinked repeatedly. A silence fell over them as Ava awaited his answer. Should it be bad, she’d still like to remain friends with him because really, she did have a great time just hanging out with the boy. And should it be good, well, they’d see where it lead.
